To break the intergenerational chain of addiction by treating families and individuals affected by chemical dependency, helping to restore them to fulfilling and productive lives. To advance public and professional knowledge of chemical dependency as a treatable family disease through research and educational activities. Alcohol and other drug addictions are treatable diseases. The pathology extends beyond the addicted individual to non-addicted family members and others, called codependents. An effective treatment program must provide not just for the chemically dependent person but also for codependents. When it does, the primary patient's chances of recovery are significantly elevated and the entire family's prognosis for optimal recovery is enhanced. |
