The Van Ost Institute offers a program of full family involvement, which is recognized by today's professionals as the most effective therapeutic approach to the treatment of addiction. This approach also recognizes the fact that addiction is a disease which has deleterious effects on the entire family and thus it is also a necessary component for the prevention of the almost inevitable intergenerational spread of addictive illnesses.

Therefore, along with programs for the alcohol or other drug addicted individual, the Van Ost Institute provides counseling and support groups for all ages to help each member of the family recover from the effects of living with, or having grown up in a chemically dependent environment.

The Van Ost Institute's services for the addicted individual, family members and significant others include:

The Van Ost Institute is one of the few addiction treatment centers which still fulfills its commitment to provide full family treatment with active programs. The Institute pioneered and continues to provide innovative support groups at no cost for family members traditionally excluded from the circle of treatment, such as Kids Count for children ages 5-12, Teens Count for people ages 13-17, and Seniors Count for those over 60 years of age.
